It was already hot when I came home. The house was pretty stifling. I threw open the back door and the dog galloped outside, which is normal. After I gave her her breakfast I wanted to water the side yard before it got any hotter and started boiling the water in the hose; while I was doing so, I heard barking. And it continued. The dog was sitting facing the chainlink fence barking her head off. The tent the neighbors have set up in their yard is a modern one with a large window, through which I could see the white dog's head, and beside it a human arm apparently checking the time on a cellphone. So I hauled the dog inside and set up the toddler gate in the doorway from the screen room into the yard. Then she fetched a squeaky toy and sat by the gate squeaking, presumably trying to drive the other dog nuts.
