Nights have been cool recently, and today it was startlingly cold, with a cutting north wind that was bending the little ornamental tree in the yard at the corner of the street, and the sunlight had that leaden tinge - I half expected snow. But the night wasn't as cold as forecast. Whatever storms there were passed us by, although I noticed the next morning that gulls had come inland.
