Had to go to the doctor to get seen again before he would renew my prescriptions. My insurance forced me to change doctors last year - whether because the employer downgraded their coverage or because the clinic upped their fees to pay for all the huge new facilities they've been building, all of a sudden the insurance didn't pay for the clinic. The new doc is Asian like the old one but operates out of the upper floor of a warren of 1980s offices with access from the balcony and the stairs hidden around two corners. His waiting room is tiny and always full, the place is plastered with posters about gout and IBS, and unlike my former doctor he is pretty much inaudible. I successfully got a renewal out of him.

Medicare or poor insurance...same "hoops" to "jump". Because "everyone knows" poor people are druggies, my MD can't prescribe my pain meds. I have to go to an accredited pain doc....every time. Catch 22; Medicare will only pay for quarterly visits, which they deem the proper number per yr BUT regulations of Medicare/Medicaid patients(at least here in "The Dangly Bits")require monthly IF you want your meds more than x4 a yr. So you PAY...
