I saw from the bus this morning, the mystery tree with the spikes is starting to flower: I can see pale pink at the tips of the branches. It may well be for the last time; there's one of those boards with a drawing of a building on it set up in front of the lot. Unfortunately there's also a chainlink fence now, and a big NO TRESPASSING sign. So I doubt I can get photos of the flowers; I don't have a huge lens or a tripod.
