D.O.P.-T.

When the dog and I came out late this evening, the motion-sensor light in the back yard was already on, and I thought I saw a flicker of movement. It was Pru, who'd taken up a position lying at the base of the old brick hearth I use as an altar. She may have been in the back porch room when she heard us coming out. At first the dog was unawares; her eyesight isn't very good. Then Pru decided to make a run for it across the grass and under the orange tree. The dog attempted to pursue, but I held her to a very slow gallop; this is one reason I take her out on the leash last thing. Either Pru went over the tall gate into the side yard, or she was sitting in the tree mocking us as the dog sniffed away at the base of the gate.
