Yesterday there were muddy paw prints on the porch that didn't look right for a cat. I think a raccoon helped itself to catfood overnight, but the housemate is unconvinced.
We walked the dog later than usual today, partly because it was chilly and there was at least one small shower. Someone was walking with his grey parrot on his wrist.
Then I did my best to rescue a dozen tiny succulents. They'd been left in little pots at the kerb, and at first I didn't notice the "FREE" chalked next to them, then I recalled how very little sunny window space we have—the house is designed to minimize heating in summer—and left them for someone else. But no one watered them, and today some critter had knocked them all over. So now they are in a box at the top of the driveway and I'll see whether any survive.
