A green cricket suddenly landed on the papers next to my keyboard. Then it departed equally abruptly.

I've seen the first flame-colored section of a liquidambar along El Camino - and the couple of leaves that had fallen off the tree into my laundry basket by the time I took in the laundry in the evening, were bright orange. First harbingers of summer wending its way to fall.

A hotel in downtown Sunnyvale has a high balcony that must contain planters - there are tall desiccated weeds waving in the air up there.
