As I put up the sign and locked the door for my lunch break, there was a rustling sound on the other side of the fence in the parking lot for the next strip mall, and there was the Himalayan cat again, with a friend. Then at going-home time my relief was a little late, and then as I was about to clock out, asked me to watch while she got something from her car twice; when I got out it was full daylight, with a huge red-gold sun peeping over the top of the motel on the other side of El Camino. The days are lengthening.
