The house of white dogs on the other side of the chainlink fence is very small, but may have a Tardis for a basement; while the dog(s) remain constant they are sometimes augmented by visiting dogs, and the family that appears to live there is frequently supplemented. At the start of the week they put out a heap of extra trash extending almost the entire front of the lot, including a complete set of pale purple wicker garden furniture. (I was tempted.) I hope they were just fall cleaning rather than preparing to move out. In any case I was in the yard and yet another lady beckoned me over and showed me that she'd placed the wicker and some other furniture against the fence, supplementing the old closet doors that are already zip-tied to it (and which sometimes still manage to fall over). She said she was worried the dogs would fight and hurt each other. I tried to explain that our dog is a wimp who barks once and then runs away. I wonder if she's the landlady.
