A picture in a photo community reminded me: I haven't seen the local mallard duck pair around since early this year. I've seen a male near the swimming pool, and what I presume is another male who has a large white patch on one side of his neck (I'm not sure whether a disease or interbreeding with Mandarin ducks or something) some distance away, and about a month ago I saw the two together at the pool. But no Mrs. Mallard.
