The rain—during which the house on the corner had lawn sprinklers going full on—has tapered off into light showers and sunshine. On the way home, after seeing a pretty rainbow, I discovered that a house where the new residents let the front lawn escape them, so they got a sea of oxalis this spring, have replaced it with new sod. Their little lemon tree now sits in a tree pit lined with black pebbles. It looks disconcerted. I eventually took the dog for a short walkies, during which we passed a workman removing the paving from another front yard (dog was rightly nervous about the huge piece of concrete), numerous other dogs being walked in the window between showers, and the white dog's two friends arriving for a play date. In the park we gave chase to a couple of squirrels.
