On the way home from the bus I came upon a squirrel munching away behind an uneven white mass, which turned out to be a plastic bag containing a round covered dish of takeaway; I could see individual chickpeas and glop with beet-pink and avocado-green streaks, so some sort of tahini thing, presumably. I poked the lid further off the dish.

I like both beets and avocados, but I'm not sure they're flavors I would choose to combine.

I'm told a mark of California food is they put avocado in everything. There are a few avocado trees in the neighborhood and the squirrels appear to love the fruits, so who knows, maybe this food was ordered for the local wildlife :-)
