Sadly, yes. (Though not as many as in Los Angeles.) They're mainly caused by traffic pollution, when weather conditions don't clear the air out: we are after all in a valley. In winter, the remaining people who burn wood make it worse: they're supposed to not burn when a bad air day is declared, and once upon a time the buses were free for the first 3 bad air days every season (I think, I'm very bad at remembering numbers). But mainly it's an alert to susceptible people not to exercise outdoors, and to the civic-minded to drive less. I believe our main problems are with particulates, rather than visible smog, though it's often too hazy to see the hills, and when there's a wildfire in the wrong place, the smoke is much of the problem.
