Came home in the early-morning yellow sunshine to see a strange silhouette on the end of our porch gableāa hawk, possibly a peregrine, being harried by two crows. As I watched it transferred to the telephone wires over the driveway, where it perched with difficulty, then to the roof of the studio over the neighbors' garage. Spotted breast; I'd say a peregrine but who knows, I am not a birder. I've occasionally seen the same hawk wheeling over the neighborhood or perching in the huge oak just north of the house, but not this year. I ran inside for my camera but it had been driven out of sight by the time I came back out.
