The VTA have put that demonstration fancy bus - the one covered in artificial graffiti saying people love the VTA - on the 7 am run. It just doesn't have enough seats - it has fewer even than the ones they put in place as expresses. Four or five slumberers and most of the forward-facing seats are taken, and like the other new buses, it stops very jerkily, and those standing in the yawning spaces go over like ninepins. It also has very high platforms above the base floor level; as I prepared to get off this morning, waiting for the light to change at the intersection before my stop, I watched a poor blighter sitting facing backwards - for some reason he was sitting on the aisle side, not the window side, of the pair of seats - repeatedly fall asleep, bend deeply into the aisle, then jerk upright. An inch or two deeper and his head was going to hit that deck a long way below.
