Alternating sunshine and showers - sometimes light, sometimes heavy - all day. It was quite dramatic. We managed to fit in dogwalking and a trip to the San Jose library without getting soaked. As I walked to the bus stop in the evening, despite puddles and a cold breeze, a birthday party was taking place in a front yard - children pounding up and down in a bouncy castle and shrieking in glee, adults barbecuing to one side. When I returned this morning, a princess party hat, red foil with orange tissue paper cascading from its pointed top, sat on the wet sidewalk outside the picket fence.
