HQ switched the phone at work, from a cordless to a corded. I've been unable to hear it ring (quite a blessing - I can almost never hear what people are asking, and all too often it's whether we sell glass pipes). I finally realized ... it's the sound like interference on the radio or a very distant train whistle.
