They appear to have replaced all the 522 (express) buses with the experimental hybrid ones at the start of the year. This evening I finally rode one that was a little crowded, and it was as miserable as I expected - there are nowhere enough seats, and they're jerkier than the other buses, so a lot of us had to stand and get thrown around. And the entrance is even narrower, so one old codger insisting on leaving via the front snarled traffic for a while. Also the floor was running with spilled liquid. But I did scavenge a copy of the Daily Post, the free newspaper that isn't available to us peons south/east of Mountain View.
