Leaving the fancier of our two supermarkets (we alternate weeks) via the parking lot behind the building, we again sighted green and white Google Shopping Express hybrid cars. Four of them, with people sleeping in the front seats. Doesn't look like it's taking off, and I remember the Kosmo.com / Urbanfetch battle on the streets of Manhattan. Anyway I don't want Google knowing where I live and what I eat and drink in addition to all the rest they know about me and everybody else. (When I first saw one of those cars, in the same place, I thought it was an employee motor pool to go with their on-campus bicycles.)

I'd missed that that had started.

I was without a car on the Presidio during that era of grocery delivery, and found it quite useful, but what i really want is a reasonable wash and fold service like was available in Philly and San Francisco. The San Francisco laundry wrapped one's folded laundry in a bright sky blue paper and charged something like 25c per pound. When we moved to the peninsula the rate was $1 per pound.

Hmm, i just realized that the challenge i've had -- wanting to join one of those farm share (CSA) programs but not being able to pick up the food in a timely manner -- might be solved by a task rabbit. Or i could get back to going to the farmers market. Beet season approaches!

We had organic veggies delivered -- but the quality was too low. Oranges molding a day after the box arrived, etc. I think the veggies were perhaps post farmer's market produce, old and not fresh.

I haven't seen a local farm that delivers to the door step: all seem to be about picking up at some neighborhood location.
