I scrolled down on that Burpee page and saw a review from several years ago where someone got white flowers. I had thought they were still a good seed company, but apparently not any more? However, one of the plants at the back fence (they are having to fight the switchgrass, the walking onions, and Bear's daily patrolling of the boundaries and are thus less advanced) has today produced a different kind of purple flower, with no white center. And some of the original ones' seeds made it through my very poor composting and are coming up in the side yard - white with purple rays. So perhaps the takehome message is: morning glories mutate like whoa and who knows what is in Burpee's beds until the next year's seeds come up.
