Watering the plants on the porch and mowing the grass worked; the rain came back, raining when we got up and showers alternating with sun all morning. I played ball with the pooches in one of the sunny episodes - finding greasy brown mushrooms in the lawn - and when I threw the housemate's dog's ball near the oleander bush, a hairy cat erupted from under it and streaked across the garden and through the gap in the fence at the corner. Much excitement.
