Found a spider web strung between a tree and the hose stanchion in the middle of the yard. I'm afraid I destroyed it watering the lawn.

Aw, poor spiders. Poor spider webs. I guess in the forest they'd get torn up too, maybe by birds or deer or something.

I'm sure the spider made a soft, wet landing and survived. For one thing, if I'd killed her, it would have rained. (British superstition; relatively plausible with the frequency of rain there).
