Observed the pigeons at 7th and Santa Clara in San Jose for a while, noticing how much time they spend flattened on the sidewalk in the blasting sun, and alternatively, grooming their scraggly feathers. When I came back in the evening they had moved back up to the overhead support for the traffic lights and were roosting there like vultures.
