Someone mentioned cyclists on the sidewalk (pavement) and it occurred to me, in the last few years I've encountered far, far fewer of them. Only two in the last month, both politely went around me, and I'm walking more regularly than I used to. Both were riding normal bikes, with normal clothes on, and so are most of the cyclists I see in the street these days. I suppose the spandex-clad racing-bike crew may just be taking the winter off, but it's not that cold. But it was the normal cyclists who used to almost run me down (as well as the adolescent boys of one particular family, who've now presumably moved on to college sports), so I think the main change is the proliferation of bike lanes. The city may even have changed its rule that allowed riding bikes on sidewalks if one felt unsafe in the street (thereby of course making pedestrians unsafe).
