Finished watering the grass. This time a hummingbird was bathing in the spray both front and back. The homeless guy under the offramp spent weeks in January and February with just an assemblage of tarps and presumably a sleeping bag; now it's got warm, he has a tent.

I've often thought that, if I were living rough, I'd camp under a river bridge, instead of a road bridge, and I'd use a hammock... people rarely look up.

But good on him for improving his living situation, I guess?

Of course I'm assuming it's the same guy ... exact same place, so I think so. There are small creeks here, but I think the homeless who camp along them are in the bushes. There's a river in San Jose, but it floods every so often (and then they sweep the camps in the guise of rescue, and when it comes up fast at night, probably very real rescue). A hammock would make it hard to store your stuff and would have to be pretty high up to escape notice. He's behind some scraggly bushes at one side of a parking lot that gets hardly any use because the payment machines are out of order and there are other more convenient lots plus it's not very hard to find a free spot in front of a house. Dunno how many passers-by notice him.
