It went down into the 30s in our back porch room last night ... not in Los Altos where they record, though. We have a chance of more rain tomorrow night. A lot of leaves have now come down front and back, and the men also left a branch from one of the camellias lying in the side yard. So I should muck around tidying out there and try to tempt the rain.

For the second night running, Monty and Prudence have basically come running to me - but then declined to eat my offering of food. Makes me sad, especially since I caught 2 fat raccoons chowing down on the porch this evening. Hibernate, damnit.

Look on the positive side; they want your company, not just your food! And as outdoor cats, they won't be bestowing their favour lightly.

It also suggests that someone else is feeding them too, so you can have extra confidence that the neighbourhood is friendly to them.

Worth the occasional waste of a tin of food.

Look at it this way... they came running to you, despite not being hungry.

You gave them love and a reason to trust you... might not have been what they wanted, but if I had to guess I'd say that's what they needed.
