Both cats appeared in the back porch again in the late afternoon, so I took a break from mucking out fallen leaves in the side yard (I found two dessicated orange skins hidden in there) to feed them. I found cat vomit in Mama Violet's usual spot under a bush beside the driveway, so maybe we haven't lost her with all the coming and going and loud noises.
I'm slowly defrosting, laundry again airs out on the drying rack and my butter again softens within 90 minutes sitting out in the kitchen, but I fear the cracks in my fingertips are here for the season. And I still jump when I hear the loud click of the heating turning off.
