We grocery shopped a few days early (our usual day is now Friday); big gaps on the shelves, and the Palo Alto Daily Post rack was empty too. (Edit: I now see they've cut back to 5 days a week. Phooey.)
I've been enjoying the moonlight flooding into the back of the house late at night, but I see the rain forecast for Thursday has firmed up. And the weather service is stoking panic about massive snowfall in the Sierra from the same storm. We need to increase the snow pack (and housemate and I aren't barmy enough to have a winter trip booked), so sounds good to me.
