I finished my night's writing and went outdoors to see the lunar eclipse, and blót, at the start of totality. The moon was low in a sky scattered with stars, framed between the branches of a neighbor's trees, and dusky pink except for a lighter edge at the top right. One or more birds went off shrieking as I was blóting.
