This morning was like old times: since it was Sunday, when I got up to feed the dog I staggered down the driveway in the grey chill to retrieve the paper, and Monty and Silver had been hanging out by the car waiting to be fed and scattered as I approached. After I put out the food, they shared it amicably. Maybe the neighbors were away for Christian Ostara :-) Later we walked the dog on a different route to avoid some of the crowding in the park, and passed the house that has two cats. The black and white one has put on weight and looked quite fearsome as he/she snarled at the dog; that brought out the fluffy calico, who commenced inflating herself as I called the housemate back to help me extract the dog before she got any closer and received a snootful of claws.

There were lines of little cherry trees on the parking lot dividers, but they've stopped looking after them. The plaque beside the first one records that it was part of a gift from a sister city, presumably a replacement for one of the original set because the trees given on that occasion were planted at parks and schools, too.
