Went out in the middle of the evening to give the cats some more wet food, since the dish had been attacked enthusiastically enough to move it a few feet. There was a scrabbling sound and a raccoon withdrew into the bushes, so I brought in both dishes for an hour or so. And then the dog started up with the barking and scrabbling at my bedroom window. I looked down and there was the raccoon, lurking. And eventually shambling off.
