So far, mainly a normal short, sunny fall day here. The community building in the park is a polling station, and 6-foot distancing lines had been taped on the sidewalk for a considerable distance, but when we went past on walkies, there were only 3 people waiting in the forecourt. "EVERY PERSON COUNTS, COUNT EVERY VOTE" had been chalked on the park path, surrounding many-colored stick figures.




Not an ailanthus; I suppose it may be an avocado, but I'm not sure the leaves are large enough.

Paulownia tomentosa. In the southeast it's a pest tree like ailanthus.

Hmm, I didn't know that tree, but to me the flowers on this one look too ratty and the leaves too pointed based on the Wikipedia pics. Also, its exposure is north and east—but in this climate of sun most of the year, that may well be enough for a tree described as needing sun to grow properly. And what I thought was a weed avocado tree produced round yellow fruits this spring of about the right 3–4 cm; I was waiting to see what they looked like when mature, but somebody harvested them. So I may be confused about that one, too.
