I hadn't seen Mama Violet for days, and the kittens have been acting really shy, coming out to eat in a group only at dusk, with Monty seeming to act as scout. But today I saw her again in the morning, looking a bit the worse for wear; when I returned with wet food, she didn't hiss, just tipped her head to one side. Then she just nibbled the edges. In the late afternoon I put recyclables in the can and she shot out from behind the trashcans, but she didn't go far, and when I came out with more food, she was waiting and ate it. It's a relief to see her again; I was afraid she'd been trapped and done away with. Monty appeared at 6:00 and he and at least one sibling got dins.

Those purple flowers still look like kudzu to me. Who knows what's under the mound; my best guess is a lamp with the house number.

Happy to hear Mama is back; sorry to hear she's been through something. I'd fear for a fight with the raccoons. We thought some of the injuries Edward came home with in Mountain View were from raccoons attacking him.
