I hacked away some more at the top of the bushes in front of the kitchen and dining room windows.
This evening I disturbed Mama Violet and four playing kittens; even though it was to provide food, I felt like a big meanie. Tonight before turning out the light in the living room, I checked the kitten food bowl; it wasn't quite empty and there was a rustle too big for a kitten, so I looked down below the porch and found myself face to face with a large raccoon. I have brought the bowl in for the night.
