Either, but both are low on the list for me. I far prefer books, or something I can play by myself. (Yes, jigsaws, but those never did much for me.) I'll prefer a crossword (and I'm not all that hot on them, either,) or game of cards to a jigsaw or board game. Then again, it very much depends upon the company involved.
Jigsaws, definitely. I really don't like games, but I find figuring out where a piece goes in a jigsaw surprisingly pleasant, and it can be done either alone or while having a real conversation, unlike a board game where everybody's being competitive and one has to keep talking about the rules.
Jigsaw. I am picky about the pictures because I want interesting colour on the pieces. I used to prefer a 500 piece puzzle because then I could do it in an evening and no risk that kids or cats would lose pieces for me before I could get back. However no there are no kids or cats that would mess up the pieces and my eyes are not what they used to be so it can stay up longer to give me a chance to squint leisurely at pieces shapes and images.
