I mowed the front meadow yesterday, and the back today. I know I'm supposed to scorn that grass that spreads by long creeping stalks, and it does have a bad habit of turning vertical and climbing up inside trees and shrubs, but it makes a wonderful springy surface to walk on and for the dog to roll on, it doesn't produce foxtails to get into her fur, and it's both heat-hardy and the first kind to come back where there's been a mat of clover. It's peculiar to mow, though, forming furrows and popping back up.

Perhaps consider using a scythe? Or maybe scissors, to (carefully) carry in your back pocket!
