Worse air than yesterday, and hopefully the heat wave peaked; they recorded 100 degrees in Los Altos, up from 98 yesterday. Evening walkies are becoming stressful with all the evasive action needed; I'm not sure there's a better route now that traffic is coming back, so maybe we'll have to walk the poor dog early before either of us is really awake.

i hate summer. i hate it so much. so very very much.

also, that's one of the reasons i don't have a dog. i am not walking a dog twice a damn day when it's 110 degrees outside. i fucking hate living in a place where "wow, it's so nice, it's only 96 out today" is actually not a ludicrous thing to say.

Yes, it's not normally so hot here; the climate has always been a big draw for the Bay Area suburbs. But still a bit hotter for long stretches of the summer than is comfortable for walking.

I read a book last year by an Italian on the peculiar American habit of putting public spaces indoors. I don't think she had really experienced a continental climate.
