I'd been enjoying looking at the big saffron-colored flowers on the squash plants, which unfurled every morning for several days, closing up again by evening. But sometime this afternoon something snipped off all the flowers and flower buds, and chewed off the tops of the two baby squashes. I hope it wasn't rats from the compost pile, but I fear it probably was. So it seems the housemate won't get her squash.
