House fixing, continued. The painters moved on to the trim, which meant having all the openable windows opened all day and all night. They're all sash windows, repainted several times, and some are painted shut on the inside, but I managed to get all three windows open in the living room and two of the three in my room, and once they were all open, the ones with broken sashes propped up, it was a matter of preventing the dog from hurling herself into the backyard through the housemate's window, or either biting or giving a heart attack to one of the painters. I kept my curtains closed, but to my surprise she did exactly what we would hope for if a burglar tried to get in: barked loudly and looked extremely threatening when one of the guys came close to the window. So for a while she was confined to the housemate's office, where the window has an air conditioner in it so doesn't get opened for painting, and for a while I had her on a leash, and then she eventually settled down on the floor. The scary men outside, or not being allowed to bite them, appears to have scared her off the bed, in fact. Until I went to bed, when she flopped down next to me as usual. (I wrapped blankets around me; it's a bit late in the year for this.)

They forecast a chance of rain next week, so the crew are trying to complete the job.
