It's a pretty day outside but the painters have returned and the dog and I are now imprisoned by plastic over the windows and doors on every side. Here's the view from the front window, with the Beanie Baby dragon I bought myself as consolation at Walgreen's last week, and my free insulated drinks cup from the concierge service running the renovations, Home Preservation Services.

Meanwhile, the trees are putting on their show. Many of the same kind can't decide what stage of the display they are supposed to be at:

but the great gingkos are about half yellow:

and this fig tree is about half done.

As usual, the liquidambars are putting on a good show:

with their new spiky seed balls among the leaves.

More of the oaks have gone red this year, too:

and like last year, some of the plane trees have gone gold:

The hornbeams the city has been planting along streets are going a pretty yellow:

and the various ornamentals planted in part for their fall display are being riotous as planned:

(In the background, new apartments, some now rented, and a tower feature next to Redwood Square that was bare steel for many, many years)

So some of the streets are pleasant to look down.
