Someone has a purple iris in magnificent bloom by their front fence. So I checked ours in the backyard and two of the four are covered in buds.
It was raining heavily when I went to bed; it had stopped when I got up, so an opossum apparently decided to stroll around our yard. The dog was barking frenziedly at it on the back fence and this time shining a light on it didn't cause it to vacate, so I had to creep under the tree there in the wetness and haul her out of there.
