The 1980s brick-faced development on El Camino where the bare space was that was used for a Hallowe'en pumpkin patch with huge bouncy castles and as a Yule tree lot is being demolished. First the Afghan restaurant at one end was reduced to matchwood. Then the row of small shops: the donut shop, the dry cleaner's, the delousing place ... Now they've started lopping the corner off the two-storey office building with circular accent windows that was headquarters for the commercial real estate company that's doing this. The fast-food place in front will be last, it seems.
