The cedar hedge next door has been replaced by a row of flowering vines, the same as on the other side of the wall. Pleasant, but surely requiring more water. However, I noticed that the catoneaster that guards our side of the fence between us - which is a huge mass of white flowers right now after the late rain - has responded to their savagely cutting it back on their side last year by arching all the way over to touch their garage (which has a studio above it, so that's a very high blank wall).
