Bear is still eager to eat, and to go walkies, but is fading - when the swimming pool is in use, he seems to vaguely notice the sound but not to know what it is. He walks very slowly now, and since I am so deaf and the park is so well used, people often come up behind us and push past us. Increasingly, he has to gather himself to make it up the porch steps, and after I take him out in the yard one last time at night, I have to guide him back in - he stops and stands staring into the darkness. But he still greets me with wagging tail every morning, and sometimes jumps on the bed and burrows against my legs, despite what seems to have been training with his former people not to be on a bed when a human is in it.
