The orb weavers are now everywhere. Either the same one or a new one has a web between the roof of the house and one of the vent pipes. Another has a huge web spanning the entrance to the side yard at the corner house. And walking the dog, I found one in a parking lot that let me get a good look at its back: also a hammer, but without the two dots. The web on our porch, on the other hand, has been shredded, perhaps by one of the birds that nest in the eaves there. Possibly that's the spider that's now up on the roof.
