A gang of parrots hangs out in the parking lot of the Cherry Orchard shopping center at Mathilda and El Camino. They fly over the neighborhood in shrieking clumps and harangue the cars under their favorite trees. I think they are the same green parrots as in San Francisco; they have short, tapered tails. I keep wondering whether they are natives with a taste for Starbucks, or escapees from one of the apartments who will eventually colonize the entire valley.

They're escapees, mostly Quaker Parrots. They've also made colonies from Florida to New York(they overwinder in large colonies in those scoreboards at stadiums which usually have some sort of de-icer built in...) We had a bunch when I lived in San Francisco that every AM would land in the Cedar tree outside my bathroom window and "gossip". When Our landlord had it Pruned, they never came back....
