The other two chickens are still living in their separate pen with cardboard box. A notice has been posted on the crossing signpole across the street: FOUND: YOUNG CHICKENS. It joins a lost dog sign and several yard sale signs distributed around the various poles at the crossroads.

I'm a little tempted to come and claim the chickens just so I can stuff them with strawberries. Not a lot, but a little.

It's true. Or, to be honest, the chickens. I want to have hens again sooo badly. But! I don't have a spiffy wooden chicken house, nor have we put in the garden in which I want them to nibble on the pesky bugs. Also, when I do finally get my own chickens, our local no-kill shelter often has older hens who are past their prime but still perfectly good, if somewhat less profligate, layers. I love the idea of rescue chickens. Rescue chickens that don't come with the terrible threat of yardsales and the inevitable acquisition of EVEN MORE velvet Elvii. *shame*
