Most of the sky was still dark when I heaved the store door open at 6:30 this morning. Just a band of pink and gold in the east. Of course we have 6 weeks to go before they let us go back to real time, but it was also chilly as I waited for the bus and as I walked home from it. And the squirrels had been chewing off bits of the avocado tree to carry off its fruits; the sidewalk was littered. There are dozens of deep red apples on the tree in "Bear"'s yard, and I keep finding them, with bites out of them, left up to a block away.
