From one orange yesterday to 6 today. So today's breakfast of champions had 4 oranges on it and resembled this from a month ago:
Last year the tree also had a bumper crop, but not so many as this year. Thinking back, the difference after last winter's record rainfall was that not nearly so many tiny green oranges fell in the summer. It seems that watering the tree assiduously has led to it setting more fruit (and maybe picking all I could that didn't fall, starting before they were quite ripe, also had some effect), but after the drought ended and the water table rose again, the tree responded by keeping more of the crop.
Meanwhile we have to do the stupid clock change tonight for the benefit of school sports. So today has been cooler and the wind is now chilly. But the forecast of rain likely tomorrow evening has been changed to showers likely, and I'm not sure we'll get anything.
