The first iris is in full bloom in our backyard, and we're into the season when I can layer the compost entirely with fallen camellia flowers and magnolia petals. But by the time we walked the dog in late afternoon, the wind was cold.

The housemate made an extra supermarket run in the morning; by mid-afternoon Prudence was back in her spot under the car.
